New sewing helper

Wash Away Wonder Tape is super useful for fabrics that cannot accept lots of heat or steam steam pressing or if the sewing area cannot be easily pinned. Plus, it's easier to use than fusible tape.
Because it is water soluble, the manufacturer recommends storing in an airtight bag. Instead, I tried this little trick of cutting a slit in the plastic blister pack for easy removal.

You're welcome.

Stinky fabric solution

I now pre-wash my fabric before sewing to avoid shrinking or fading surprises. Found this $2 a yard brown eyelet at WalMart and noticed the dye fumes were pretty strong when I got home. Machine washed it once and it still stank! Washed it again with some Molton Brown shampoo ~~ it's perfect now!

Carbona Dye Grabber

Yes, it works.

I purchased a new one this week and as I unwrapped it, I was trying to remember the original color. Wow, white. The other is my old dye grabber. I toss it in the wash with new clothing or fabric that may bleed. The dye grabber is effective for 30 washes and you can use the old cloth for cleaning or messy clean ups.

Free or almost free alert: specially marked packages offer up to $5 rebate. You cannot afford NOT to have a dye grabber.
(No, I have no ties with Carbona.)
